Next Steps Into a New Normal - Being With Jesus Daily

Today we continue with our series called Next Steps into a new normal. a sanctuary—a holy space. God wants to give us sanctuary. There is a unique kind of experiencing the presence of God when we are gathered together in worship. We talked about that last week. But there is also a unique way in which we experience the presence of God when we are alone; when nobody else is around and God has our full attention.

We often tell people who are newly baptized that baptism isn’t the finish line, it’s just the starting line to a life of following Jesus, but we’re not very good or clear about what a life of following Jesus looks like. So, this series is not just the latest messages you can listen to about Jesus; this is a strategy you can live by to actually follow Jesus.

Hello Journey Friends and Family,
Thank you for your prayers and grace as we closed our in-person worship services this past Sunday. I continue to be grateful for the staff’s ability to put out great online content in all areas of ministry. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to resume in-person worship services this Sunday. Although I was hopeful that we would be able to do so, it is has become clear that it would not be wise at this time. In addition to canceling all in-person worship gatherings this Sunday, we have also closed our offices and the staff are working from home. We have suspended all other gatherings that would take place physically at either Journey location. This would include but is not limited to small groups, student ministry, Bible Studies, Wednesday work crew, iServe, recovery ministry, and any other use of the facilities. Our pastors, staff, and volunteers are continuing to make diligent efforts to stay in touch with everyone who has been impacted so we can pray for them, care for them, and monitor their recovery. Although we can’t predict exactly when we will resume onsite worship services, our goal is to re-open as soon as it is safe to do so. The driving question we are asking when making these decisions is what is the wisest and the most loving thing to do for our community and our church family. Please join me in praying for two things: 1) a full recovery for all who are sick 2) that we will be back gathering together sooner than later. I continue to be grateful for the incredible staff God has blessed us with at Journey. Our staff has pivoted without complaint and has led with excellence every step of the way. I am grateful that in this unique season they continue to work toward making disciples of Jesus who Love God, Love People, and Serve the World. Awaken - Confess Known Sin

Today Pastor Dustin continues our message series called Awaken. This week's topic is sin. Sin separates us from God. Our sin can lead to shame, and our shame leads to us hiding. Our hiding is why God seems so distant. But the good news is: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:8-9

Today Family Pastor Christian Wilson will continue walking through our series called Defining Moments and looking at some of life’s most defining moments. We have covered many defining moments that you probably relate to like: rocking chair moments, mom moments, baptism moments, and communion moments.

And today we will tackle the conversation of graduation moments. Many of us have experienced a graduation in some form or another: whether that’s from Pre-K graduations, to middle school graduations, to high school graduations and some to university graduations.

Jesus knew how easily people forget, so in his wisdom, He established a visual aid to commemorate His sacrifice for sins that we call communion or the Lord’s Supper. Jesus intended that communion would be a physical expression of a spiritual reality. The purpose of a memorial is to leave a tangible symbol to represent a significant historical event and Jesus impending death on a cross for the sins of the world, followed by his resurrection is THE most significant defining moment ever.

The other 97% of life doesn’t make the cut and most of it just fades into the black hole of our subconscious. Pastor John talks to us today about some of the realities of what sitting in the parenting chair means. 

Shift Your IF – More than Conquerors

Over the past two weeks we have been diving deep into the eighth chapter of Paul’s letter to the church at Rome. Many scholars, theologians and pastors have proclaimed this chapter the greatest chapter in the New Testament, if not in all the Bible. It contains some of the most cherished truths and powerful promises from God about our relationship with Him in Christ. We are going to wrap up today by looking another classic verse from Romans 8:37: We are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

Shift Your If – What If Possibilities

Last weekend, we kicked off a new teaching series called, "Shift Your If" based on chapter 8 of the book of Romans. Today, we’re going to shift our focus from our "if only regrets" to our "what if possibilities". We’re going to move from talking about being forgiven by God to discussing living for God with power, courage and boldness. God did not save you just to keep you safe—he saved you to make you dangerous!

Shift Your IF – No Regrets

All of us have regrets. Some are benign and some are malignant; some are big, some are small--but we all have regrets that continually make us wonder “if only”. If only I hadn’t missed that; if only I would have said that; if only I hadn’t said that; if only I had been there; if only I just left that party earlier.

So you’ve got all these different kinds of regrets and the reality is our regrets are as unique as we are. The question is, how do we deal with them? The truth is, they have already been dealt with at the cross. There is no regret that God cannot redeem.
